In the realm of Alternative Fuels, Grigford is expanding into the Biofuels sector, a promising field to complement fossil fuels for a sustainable energy transition. The company has entered a strategic partnership with CHEMPOLIS OY, Finland, for advanced 2G Ethanol technology and is collaborating with CSIR-IIP to innovate Bio-Jet Fuel processes aimed at producing Bio-Aviation Turbine Fuel (Bio-ATF).

A Pilot Plant established for this initiative has already produced approximately 10,000 liters of Bio-ATF, certified for use in Indian Air Force (IAF) aircrafts with a 10% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) blend with jet fuel. Grigford has also completed the Basic Engineering and Design Package (BEDP) for a Bio-ATF facility for Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. (MRPL).

Grigford is executing the Assam Bio Refinery Project for M/s ABRPL, marking the first plant in India utilizing bamboo-based feedstock to produce fuel-grade Ethanol.This landmark project is designed to process 3,000 tonnes of bamboo annually, sourced primarily from Northeastern India, and will yield 1,000 tonnes of Ethanol along with valuable by-products like Furfural and Acetic acid. The refinery also includes the capability for product diversification through in-house technology for converting Furfural to Furfuryl Alcohol.
